"Robert's first two years as a member of the city council is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long public service career for a very promising leader. We all will be well served by his reelection."

Richard Greene
Mayor of Arlington
1987-1997

Arlington City Council Person Robert Rivera

Arlington City Council Member Robert Rivera has lived in Southeast Arlington District 3 for over 30 years. Robert grew up, first attended school, had his first job, bought his first home and second home all within District 3. He has lived on both sides of I-20 within District 3 and knows the issues that face our community. Robert works for an Arlington commercial real estate company as Vice President.

Since 1990 Robert has been very active in improving the quality of life of the citizens of Arlington. He is a past member of the Library Board, and was the co-chair of the successful 1993 Library Bond Election which provided the funds to build our Southeast Library on Green Oaks Blvd.

Robert is a past board member of The Women's Shelter. He also founded the Young Men for Arlington Annual Gala benefiting The Women's Shelter, which has raised awareness, and several thousands of dollars since 1996.

Robert is also active in the Arlington business community serving as former Chairman of the Convention and Visitor Bureau, past President Young Men for Arlington, Great Southwest Industrial District Board of Directors, and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Committee member for the Arlington Chamber or Commerce.

Over the years Robert has developed a true understanding of our communities needs by participating and volunteering with various Arlington boards and organizations such as Big Brother Big Sisters, Leadership Arlington, Police Community Advisory Board, and the 2005 Parks Bond Committee.

Robert's commitment to defending our families and homes from crime, and the improving our public safety is the reason he once again has earned the endorsements of both the Arlington Police Association, and the Arlington Professional Firefighters.

Robert's tireless support of Arlington is the reason he has the full support of so many of our friends, family and neighbors in his bid for re-election. Southeast Arlington is a better place because of the proactive efforts of our City Council Member Robert Rivera.
